Jaycees at Work:

A SAMPLING OF OUR PROJECTS

Oyster Festival Food Tent — The Milford Jaycees helped start the Annual Milford Oyster Festival back in the 1970s. Over the years, this festival has evolved into the city's largest one-day event and features an arts & crafts show, live entertainment, a carnival, contests, and much more. Our group uses the funds we generate during the festival to start up the other community service projects we conduct during the year.

Paws in the Park — A fun-filled day for both you and your dog! This project started in 2006 and proved so popular that we plan on making it a yearly event! Dog contests, informative demonstrations and vendors from all around the area are what this event is all about! All proceeds generated at this event are donated to an animal charity.

Adopt-A-Soldier — We, like our community, support our soldiers. This is especially true of our soldiers currently serving in the Middle East. Since 2005, the Milford Jaycees have been gathering comfort goods from our community and sending them over to our troops serving in the Middle East.

Food Drives — The Milford Jaycees has run food drives to benefit the Connecticut Food Bank, Beth-El Shelter, and disaster relief for the victims of the World Trade Center and Hurricane Katrina. We've helped feed our four-legged friends, too, by running an annual Pet Food Drive that benefits the Milford Animal Shelter. Wherever there is a need, Milford Jaycees are willing to lend a helping hand.

Personal Skill Seminars — Want to know how to find a better job? How to write a resume? Or perhaps just learn a few Time Management or Stress Management techniques? Then the Milford Jaycees is the place for you. We hold informational seminars every quarter that address those issues and more. Our topics are selected by our members, and the trainers we utilize are professionals. The seminars are free to members and open to the public.

Pamela Moffitt Memorial ScholarshipThis scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school student from Milford who has achieved high academic standards while generously donating their time to helping others in the community.
